Sanbao (三宝) — The Three Treasures of life

In Taoist philosophy and traditional Chinese medicine, Sanbao represents the trinity of vital forces that sustain human existence in all its dimensions. Each of the three mushrooms in this formula was selected to correspond to and nourish one of these fundamental forces — a therapeutic mapping of remarkable depth.

JING — Essence

Cordyceps sinensis

The deep reserve of ancestral vitality. The fundamental energy of the Kidneys. Longevity and reproductive strength.

QI — Energy

Shiitake

Circulating vital energy. The digestive strength of the Spleen. Active immunity and metabolism.

SHEN — Spirit (Mind)

Ganoderma lucidum

Consciousness and emotional balance. Calm of the mind and heart. Deep immunity and cellular protection. Liver protection.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Perspective

These three components from Taoist philosophy, described as the "three treasures" are seen as a triangular force that sustains life in its entirety. Jing is the material essence — inherited at birth and accumulated through food and rest; Qi is the functional force — the energy that animates every organ and process; Shen is consciousness — the mind, emotions and spirit that give meaning to existence. According to TCM principles, disease appears when one or more of these three forces are exhausted, blocked or imbalanced.

Fohow Sanbao Oral Liquid acts simultaneously on all three, offering deep regeneration.

Cordyceps → Jing

Supreme tonic of the Kidneys — the seat of ancestral Jing. Replenishes vital reserves depleted by overexertion, chronic stress, illness or aging. Acts primarily on the meridians of the Kidneys and Lungs.

Shiitake → Qi

Tonic of the Spleen and Stomach — the organs that produce acquired Qi from food. Stimulates functional energy, digestion and active immunity. Acts primarily on the meridians of the Spleen, Stomach and Liver.

Ganoderma → Shen

Tonic of the Heart and Spirit. Also considered the "mushroom of immortality", it nourishes consciousness, calms mental agitation and supports deep immunity. Acts primarily on the meridians of the Heart, Liver and Lungs.

The synergy of the three

Together, the three mushrooms cover all Five vital Organs in TCM (Heart, Liver, Spleen, Lungs, Kidneys) — a formula that provides complex therapeutic coverage.

Condensed aqueous extract

The condensed liquid form extracts and concentrates the active water-soluble compounds — polysaccharides, beta-glucans, triterpenoids, cordycepin — in a form with high bioavailability, rapidly absorbed by the digestive mucosa.

Advantages of the liquid form of the product

Fohow Sanbao Oral Liquid uses a condensed aqueous extract from the fruiting bodies of the three mushrooms — an extraction process that concentrates the active water-soluble compounds (polysaccharides, beta-glucans, triterpenoids) in the most bioavailable format possible. The fruiting body contains significantly higher concentrations of beta-glucans and active compounds compared to mycelium. Furthermore, the three extracts interact directly in solution, mutually enhancing each other's effects through synergy.

Health benefits

Fohow Sanbao Oral Liquid offers the synergistic benefits of three of the most studied medicinal mushrooms in the world, concentrated in a condensed aqueous extract with rapid and deep action.

Immunity — three-level defense

Supporting the body's immunity

Beta-glucans from all three mushrooms activate macrophages, NK cells and dendritic cells — the body's first line of defense. Each mushroom brings distinct beta-glucan molecular structures, which makes the combination of these three mushrooms an effective formula.

Balanced immunomodulation

The triple combination Cordyceps + Ganoderma + Shiitake offers broad-spectrum immunomodulation: it stimulates immunity where needed and moderates excessive inflammatory responses.

Lentinan from Shiitake — a special active compound

Lentinan is a beta-glucan polysaccharide derived from shiitake, extensively researched, renowned for its immunomodulatory and antitumoral properties. It is recognized for its ability to activate T lymphocytes and NK cells with remarkable specificity.

Increased resistance to infections

Regular consumption of the three mushrooms is associated with a reduced frequency of respiratory infections and accelerated recovery. Cordyceps, Shiitake and Ganoderma mushrooms exhibit antiviral properties, primarily through their rich compounds (such as beta-glucans and triterpenoids) that inhibit viral replication and modulate the immune system.

Cardiovascular and circulatory health

Cardiovascular and circulatory support

Triterpenoids from Ganoderma promote vasodilation and blood fluidity, potentially reducing blood viscosity. Eritadenine from Shiitake reduces intestinal cholesterol absorption, while Cordyceps improves peripheral microcirculation. Additionally, the active compounds from Ganoderma and Shiitake contribute to maintaining normal blood pressure values through relaxation of vascular smooth muscles and reduction of endothelial inflammation.

Balanced lipid profile and myocardial protection

Eritadenine from Shiitake is a unique compound with a documented effect of reducing LDL cholesterol through inhibition of the COMT enzyme. Triterpenoids from Ganoderma complement this through inhibition of HMG-CoA reductase. Additionally, polysaccharides from Ganoderma have demonstrated cardioprotective effects in various studies, reducing ischemic damage to cardiac muscle cells and protecting the myocardium against oxidative stress and inflammation.

Energy, vitality and performance

Deep cellular energy (ATP)

Cordycepin from Cordyceps acts as an adenosine analogue, stimulating mitochondrial ATP production — the fundamental source of cellular energy. Unlike stimulants, this energy is deep, sustained and free of subsequent exhaustion.

Physical endurance and performance

Cordyceps improves muscular oxygenation and the efficiency of nutrient conversion into energy. Polysaccharides from Shiitake support cellular energy metabolism, complementing the action of Cordyceps for increased physical endurance and faster post-exercise recovery.

Combating chronic and adrenal fatigue

All three mushrooms are established adaptogens that support the adrenal glands in managing chronic stress, alleviating adrenal exhaustion — the main cause of persistent fatigue in overexerted modern adults.

Accelerated muscle recovery

The synergistic anti-inflammatory action of the three mushrooms reduces post-exercise inflammatory markers, accelerating muscle fiber recovery and reducing delayed onset muscle soreness. Ideal for athletes and active individuals.

Nervous system, sleep and psychological balance

Triple adaptogen for chronic stress

Cordyceps, Ganoderma and Shiitake are all three recognized adaptogens, which increase the body's non-specific resistance to physical, chemical and emotional stress factors. Their synergy offers more complex adaptogenic protection than any of the ingredients administered individually.

Sleep quality and nervous calm

Ganoderma is one of the most studied natural ingredients for sleep improvement: it modulates GABA and serotonin, reduces sleep onset latency and increases the duration of deep sleep (NREM). Administered in the evening, it promotes deep relaxation and restful sleep, without dependency.

Mental clarity and emotional balance

Ganoderma "nourishes the Spirit (Shen)" in TCM, and modern studies confirm its mild anxiolytic effects. Cordyceps adds clarity through improved cerebral oxygenation, while Shiitake does so through reduction of neuroinflammation — a three-dimensional mental clarity.

Neurological protection and longevity

Compușii din toate cele trei ciuperci pot reduce neuro-inflamația și stresul oxidativ cerebral, protejând neuronii de degenerare. Consumul regulat este asociat cu menținerea funcției cognitive și a memoriei pe termen lung

Lungs, kidneys, liver and metabolism

Supporting lung function

Cordyceps is an established pulmonary tonic in Tibetan and Chinese medicine, used for centuries to improve respiratory capacity, chronic cough and resistance at high altitudes. It improves systemic cellular oxygenation, with visible effects on energy and mental clarity.

Kidney tonic and sexual vitality

Cordyceps replenishes renal Jing — the vital Essence of longevity in TCM — supporting the filtering function of the kidneys, hormonal balance and reproductive vitality. It is the number one traditional remedy for diminished libido and sexual energy in Chinese medicine.

Hepatic protection and regeneration

Ganoderma and Shiitake have clinically documented hepatoprotective effects, reducing elevated liver enzymes (ALT, AST) and protecting liver cells from oxidative stress. Eritadenine from Shiitake additionally supports hepatic lipid metabolism.

Blood sugar balance and metabolism

Polysaccharides from all three mushrooms contribute to improving insulin sensitivity and regulating glucose metabolism. Regular consumption is associated with the attenuation of postprandial blood sugar spikes and more efficient energy metabolism.

Antioxidants, anti-aging and detoxification

Triple-amplified antioxidant protection

Each mushroom brings its own family of antioxidants: triterpene acids (Ganoderma), ergothioneine and selenomethionine (Shiitake), cordycepin and D-mannitol (Cordyceps). Together, they cover an antioxidant spectrum unprecedented compared to any single ingredient.

Hepatic and cellular detoxification

The synergy of the three extracts supports the main detoxification pathways: hepatic (hepatoprotection through Ganoderma and Shiitake), renal (kidney tonification through Cordyceps) and cellular (autophagy supported by polysaccharides from Ganoderma).

Active biological longevity

Ergothioneine from Shiitake — nicknamed the "longevity vitamin" — is a unique antioxidant, selectively accumulated in tissues with intense metabolism (liver, kidneys, brain). Populations with high Shiitake consumption show significantly lower rates of chronic age-related diseases.

Reduction of chronic systemic inflammation

Low-grade chronic inflammation — called "inflammaging" in gerontology — is one of the main drivers of chronic conditions and accelerated aging. The three mushrooms can synergistically reduce systemic inflammatory markers (CRP, IL-6, TNF-α).

Active ingredients

Cordyceps sinensis — The Tibetan caterpillar mushroom (冬虫夏草)

Cordyceps sinensis is one of the rarest substances in the world pharmacopoeia, harvested at altitudes of 3,500–5,000 m on the Tibetan plateau. Reserved for centuries exclusively for the Chinese Imperial Court. It contains cordycepin — an adenosine analogue with a direct effect on ATP production, D-mannitol, immunomodulatory polysaccharides, essential amino acids, sterols and minerals. It acts on the deep energy axis of the body, improving the body's vitality reserves.

In TCM: Yin and Yang Tonic of the Kidneys and Lungs. Classic: "Nourishes the Lungs, tonifies the Kidneys, increases Essence (Jing), alleviates deep fatigue and restores vitality." Associated with longevity, reproductive strength and resistance to life's vicissitudes.

Ganoderma lucidum — Reishi (灵芝 — Lingzhi)

Also nicknamed "the mushroom of immortality", Ganoderma holds a very high place in the hierarchy of remedies from the classical Chinese pharmacopoeia for over 2,000 years. It contains beta-glucans, polysaccharides, triterpenoids (ganoderic acids), bioactive peptides, ergosterol, adenosine and minerals. The extract from the fruiting body — not from the mycelium — ensures the highest concentration of active compounds. Its action is deep and multilateral: immunomodulatory, hepatoprotective, cardioprotective, adaptogenic and anxiolytic.

In TCM: Tonic of the Five Organs. Tone "sweet–neutral". Meridians: Heart, Liver, Lungs. Nourishment for the Spirit (Shen). Classic: "Strengthens Qi, nourishes the heart, calms the spirit, eliminates toxins, leads to long life. Prolonged consumption delays aging."

Shiitake — Lentinus edodes (香菇)

Shiitake is the second most cultivated and consumed medicinal mushroom in the world, with a tradition of therapeutic use spanning thousands of years in China and Japan. It contains lentinan (a type of beta-glucan), eritadenine (a bioactive compound known for its LDL cholesterol-reducing effects), ergothioneine (a unique amino acid that functions as a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound in the body, earning its reputation as the "longevity vitamin"), vitamin D2, B-group vitamins, selenium, zinc and essential amino acids. It is a rich source of eritadenine — a substance without equivalent in the plant kingdom for its specific cardiovascular effect.

In TCM: Tonic of the Spleen and Stomach — the organs that produce acquired Qi. Tone "sweet–neutral". Meridians: Spleen, Stomach, Liver. Traditionally used for strengthening Qi, supporting digestion and overall vitality. Called the "elixir of life" in some medieval Japanese medical treatises.

Ergothioneine — the "longevity vitamin": Shiitake is one of the few food sources rich in ergothioneine, a unique antioxidant that selectively accumulates in tissues with high metabolism (brain, liver, kidneys, blood). Epidemiological studies associate high ergothioneine levels with low rates of neurodegenerative and cardiovascular diseases.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the liquid form superior to capsules for these ingredients?

The liquid form offers significantly greater bioavailability compared to capsules or tablets. When the active ingredients are already in solution, their absorption through the digestive mucosa is rapid. This means that a greater proportion of the active principles of Cordyceps, Ganoderma and Shiitake effectively reaches the cellular level, producing more visible benefits in a shorter time.

Why is it taken on an empty stomach in the morning and in the evening before bedtime?

Administration on an empty stomach maximizes the absorption of active ingredients — in the absence of food, the intestinal mucosa absorbs bioactive substances rapidly and efficiently, without competition from food nutrients. The morning timing takes advantage of the metabolic window after sleep, when cells are receptive to nutrition. In the evening, before bedtime, is ideal especially for Ganoderma, whose calming and sleep-improving properties manifest optimally during this period, supporting the body's nocturnal regeneration.

What is ergothioneine from Shiitake and why is it special?

What makes Fohow Sanbao Oral Liquid different from other supplements with medicinal mushroom properties?

Fohow Oral Liquid combines three premium active ingredients (Cordyceps, Ganoderma, Shiitake) in a synergistic liquid formula. Liquid synergy means that the ingredients interact directly in solution, mutually enhancing each other's effects. Each mushroom has its unique profile of active compounds and distinct mechanisms of action. Cordyceps acts predominantly on energy, respiratory and renal levels. Ganoderma — on immune, nervous and hepatic levels. Shiitake — on cardiovascular, metabolic and immune levels through lentinan. Combining the three in a condensed aqueous extract offers a synergistic therapeutic coverage impossible to achieve with a single ingredient — the three extracts mutually enhance each other in solution and together cover all Five vital Organs from the TCM perspective.

Can I take Sanbao if I am already undergoing medical treatment?

Consultation with a doctor is mandatory before combining with any prescribed medication. If you are undergoing chronic treatment, always inform your doctor about all supplements used — including natural ones.

How long should it be administered to observe results?

Being a food supplement, the effects are cumulative and can be observed after a period of regular consumption. The first benefits — increased energy, improved sleep, better mood — may appear after 1–2 weeks. Deep benefits may appear after 2–3 months of regular administration. We recommend courses of 3 months, repeated 2–3 times per year, with breaks of 2–4 weeks between courses.

How many boxes are needed for a complete course?

Each box contains 4 bottles × 30 ml = 120 ml total. At a dose of 2 bottles/day (60 ml), one box covers 2 days. For a one-month course at a dose of 2 bottles/day, you will need approximately 15 boxes. Keep in mind, however, that a dose of 2 vials is the optimal recommended dose, but many users have reported visible effects even with one vial/day.

Are there any possible side effects?

The three ingredients are generally well tolerated at the recommended doses. At the start of the course, some individuals may experience transient adaptation symptoms — mild fatigue, changes in bowel movements or minor skin rashes — which usually disappear within 5–10 days. Individuals with sensitivity to mushrooms or a severely compromised immune system should consult a doctor. At any unexpected reaction, discontinue administration and consult a doctor.
